Disassembling

When the plate had been pieced back together again, some of the pieces had not been aligned correctly. Due to this the plate had to be disassemble.

-Cotton wool rolls were lightly soaked in Acetone before they were placed on the break lines of the plate, this would hopefully dissolve the adhesive that joined the two pieces of ceramic together.

- The plate was wrapped in clingfilm to the cotton wool before being placed in the fume cupboard.

Assembling and Creating fills

The pieces of ceramic were pieced back together again using B72. The B72 was applied thinly to the breaks of each ceramic and could easily be removed when heated.

Gold rim was retouched with paint due to it wearing away

-Polyfilla was used to create fills of the missing pieces of ceramic. The Polyfilla was mixed with acrylic paints to tint its colour and match the original colour of the ceramic body or decoration.

-A glaze was then applied to the surfaces of the fills to portray it as having a shiny appearance like the rest of the ceramic plate.
