The exposed wood was brushed with rabbit skin glue and left to dry before gesso was applied to the wooden surfaces where the compo decoration was missing. The gesso was then sanded down to make smooth and level with the remaining compo decoration.

-Vinamould (yellow) is a wax used to create the mould of the original compo decoration.

-Clay is used to build up walls around the selected decoration to prevent the Vinamould from spilling out while it sets

-Once set the Vinamould is removed to reveal the detail it has picked up from the frame

-Warm compo is then pressed into the vinamould and carefully removed

-The compo is left to set for a day until firm before it is cut to the size and shape of the missing decoration on the frame

-Once cut the compo is then placed on top of the hot ceramic tile which sits over a pan of boiling water. This allows the compo is become more flexible and will allow it to attach itself with the gesso it will sit on
