After the glass had been painted, the design now needed to be leaded to hold its shape. Each piece of lead was cut to fit around each piece of glass to securely hold it in place.

The lead was held in place with metal pins and glass wedges. This made sure that when more lead was added to the design that it would not shift or move in the process.

Soldering

Soldering is done to join all the pieces of lead together and secure the glass in place.

Animal fat is rubbed at the joints of lead before they are soldered. This ensures that the solder will stick to the lead surface.

The panel is soldered on both sides
